What makes a diamond so special?

October 20, 2010

Diamond! The word itself conjures up a thousand words: rare, valuable, enviable, beautiful, sparkling. What makes a diamond special is its purity, beauty, durability and its enduring value.

Purity – Created deep within the core of the earth more than 2 billion years ago and brought to the surface by volcanic eruption, the supply of these gems remains limited. Most diamonds contain internal and external tiny natural birth marks. This is the essence of evaluating a diamonds brilliance and purity.

Beauty – The colourless beauty of the diamond has made this precious gem valuable for centuries. Each stone’s unique characteristics cannot be duplicated, and no two diamonds can ever be identical. Each diamond, like its owner, is endowed with a personality and its own complex character.

Durability – It is the hardest substance known to man, making it resistant to wear and tear. With proper care diamond jewellery can be worn daily and can be left as an inheritance to the next generation.

Enduring Value – Diamond prices fluctuate like many precious gems and products but these sparkling gems still retain value after years of being worn and enjoyed.

Rare and attractive, mysterious and magical, most of the diamond rings sparkling on fingers today and being worn in earrings or pendants are more than 100 million years old.
